KFIR News/Talk 720am “The Voice of the Valley” started broadcasting in 1965 in Sweet Home, Oregon. Today it is the largest non-directional 10,000 watt AM radio station in the mid Willamette valley serving Albany, Corvallis, Salem,  and the surrounding areas with daily weather, up-to-date local, state and national news with insights, produced by our in-house news team.

In 2019, KFIR went from a “local” station at 1,000 watts to 10,000 watts and moved the station and transmitter to Albany. If you’re pretty much anywhere in the Valley, you can hear KFIR, “The Voice of the Valley.” If you commute on I-5, no need to change the channel like the other guys. Our signal reaches from the Coast up to Sisters and from Portland down to Roseburg.

And if you’re not in the Valley, you can listen anywhere via our live stream at www.kfir720am.com.

KFIR is dedicated to bringing our listeners the best talk radio programming available. We are a conservative news/talk station and feature top-rated national shows like: Mike Gallagher, Dana Loesch, and Lars Larson; the Markley, VanCamp, and Robins show, Bill O’Reilly and Charlie Kirk; and long-time on-air personality John Wells’ show, Caravan to Midnight — all accentuated by the 10,000 watts of power of KFIR News/Talk 720 am “The Voice of the Valley.”

A Bit of KFIR’s History

KFIR is owned by Michael Astalis, who grew up in the 1960s in Romania—when it was still behind the Iron Curtain. As a young boy, he scavenged up parts to build his own radio and was able to listen to Radio Free America broadcasts without the Soviets’ censorship and fell in love both with America and the radio.
Michael’s family was able to get out and came to America, where he lived the American Dream as a commercial real-estate builder/developer. In 2007, Michael bought KFIR, determined to bring good news and information to the audience, knowing firsthand how important good, reliable information truly is.
