Albany is being hit hard by a scam that involves Linn County Jury Duty. An individual will call impersonating a Policeman from the Linn County Court System. That individual will relay to those called that they failed to appear in court December 18th and that Judge Murphy (actual judge here in Linn County) filed a contempt in court, failure to appear and another charge against the individual called. Citing three separate case #s, this imposter policeman will give an options to rectify those charges. The first is to pay for an appearance bond by calling a designated bonding company provided by the caller. The bonding agency, Nationwide Bonding (1-877-266-3312) would arrange for a total of $750 to be charged for the Bond. If the bond is not paid in 24 hours, a warrant will be issued for the individual’s arrest.
THIS IS A SCAM.
