On March 9, 2016 at about 11:00 a.m., OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 34 near milepost 5 (just east of Corvallis). Preliminary information indicates that a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling westbound on Highway 34 and approaching Oakville Road North when a 2015 Kenworth truck towing a 2004 Western States trailer entered onto the highway from Oakville Road North and began to turn toward the east in the path of the Chevrolet. As the Kenworth was traveling through the westbound lanes of Highway 34, the Chevrolet collided with the Western States trailer.
The Kenworth truck and trailer combination came to rest blocking both westbound lanes and the center turn lane of Highway 34. The Chevrolet came to rest in the inside westbound lane of Highway 34, partially underneath the Western States trailer.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Damoneisha D CALHOUN, age 21, of Beaverton was extricated from the vehicle by fire personnel and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis with serious injuries. The driver of the Kenworth, Charles M Brennan, age 55, of White City was not injured during the crash. The Chevrolet’s airbags did deploy and both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. OSP troopers from the Albany Area Command are continuing to investigate the crash.
